Erika Lusky is an experienced educator and instructional coach with 30 years of adventure in K-post secondary general and special education. She’s passionate about empowering adult learners and creating quality relationships that foster agency and identity. She lives by the motto, "We rise by lifting others."
Known for her engaging and dynamic facilitation, Erika has a knack for designing professional learning experiences that inspire. She collaborates with educators and administrators to focus on culture, inclusivity and belonging, while encouraging deep thinking, creativity, and innovation in teaching.
For the past decade, Erika has spoken around the world on topics ranging from creating cultures of thinking and making thinking visible to redesigning learning and empowering disenfranchised learners and more.
She also shines as a study group leader and mini-course facilitator at the Project Zero Classroom at Harvard Graduate School of Education. In addition, she is the co-instructor for the online learning course "Creating Cultures of Thinking" and facilitates other Project Zero mini-courses such as “The Power of Making Thinking Visible” and “Culture of Thinking in Action.” Erika’s insights can be found in guest blogs for Pedagogy of Play, Maker-Centered Learning, and Cultures of Thinking in Action.
As the co-creator of Enbrighten® Dinner Table Discussions, Erika helps students develop skills in interdependent dialogue, social awareness, thinking and understanding—turning ordinary conversations into moments of learning and connection.
Recognized with the John Pino Excellence in Education Award, Erika has also been featured in numerous publications, including "Creating Cultures of Thinking", "The Power of Making Thinking Visible", "Building Powerful Learning Communities”, "The Participatory Creativity Guide for Educators,” "Kids Standard Magazine,” and "Creative Teaching and Learning Magazine”. Beyond her professional life, Erika enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark; her daughter, Jessica, and her husband, Mitchelle; her son, Shay; and their dog, Brady. Outside of family, she finds immense joy in spending time with friends, reading, traveling, exercising, and, yes... even working some more!
